2008 GSDL-WDG National Championship Trial

Congratulations to Dougie Bannerman the first GSDL-WDG National Champion, I know Dougie has been knocking on the door for this title for a wee while, well done, a deserved victory.

The GSDL-WDG would like to thank everyone involved in the running of the GSDL-WDG National Championship Trial held last weekend the 18th/19th October.

Just to name a few of the endless list of people involved, Keir Parsons (trial manager), Lorraine Koskinas (trial secretary), Jo Bridge, Chris Bows, Caroline Robertson, Bryan VanDaal, Tony Sheldon, the group, the tracklayers Mike Bavastock and Chris Bows, the helpers Chris Goodridge and Brian Wincott, the catering crew, Wendy Armstrong, Ali Parsons and all those others who played a part behind the scenes. Thank You. Without you this would be an impossible task, you all contributed to an excellently run trial.

This is a great venue with great local tracking land, perfect to be able to hold such a prestigious event as this.

Very special thanks must go to the judge Herr Heiko Grube whose excellent judging was appreciated by both the competitors and spectators. His critiques were clear and self explanatory and his encouragement and advice to the competitors was invaluable. An excellent Judge who I am sure we will see back in the UK again.

Also a big thank you goes to Graham and Wendy Stephens (Arden Grange) who have supported the GSDL-WDG throughout the whole year with all of our qualifying trials, the GSDL-WDG National Championship and both the FCI and WUSV World Championship Teams. Their support, sponsorship and donations are greatly appreciated by all of the Working Group committee and members.

Next year we hope to expand the major trials scene with the introduction of the GSDL-WDG All Breeds National Championships. This trial will be held in the center of the country early next year, discussions are well under way, we should be able to give full details in the next couple of weeks. So watch this space. This will ultimately find the UK's top dogs within our sport.
