Leicestershire Schutzhund Club Progress report 1st December 2009

Following the success of our seminar with my good friend Axel Lang, we are continuing to further our experience ahead of our first club trial on the 9th and 10th May next year.

On Sunday 29th November we had an excellent day with Kurt and Sebastian Schwenteck of Bolton Schutzhund Club who came with their dogs to share their experiences and we had a lot of fun. Our thanks to Kurt and Sebastian, we learned a lot and enjoyed our day. We hope you enjoyed yours and thank you for your invitation for our helpers to come to your club to further their experience working with your member's dogs.

Following this, we are delighted that Henriette Bohnstedt is coming to our club on the 13th December for a tracking day. She has achieved consistent success and we are looking forward to a very good day and hope for some dry weather!

We are so pleased so many people are willing to help; it makes the GSDL WDG and the people in it the future of Schutzhund in the UK as so there is so much experience and so many people willing to share their knowledge. Thank you.

If you have visited our club, you will know we are lucky to have excellent facilities and a good deal of space. Our members are currently made up of people wishing to work their dogs and some of our members are breeders who show their dogs and have to go elsewhere to train for ringcraft. From the 3rd January 2010 ringcraft training will be part of our club so our club will offer a complete training facility for German shepherd owners. This training will take place on Sundays along side the normal obedience and protection training, thus giving German shepherd owners and breeders the chance to experience Schutzhund and to get involved if they wish. This also gives our working members an opportunity. On Sunday 25th April 2010, the GSDL is holding a regional show under the SV rules so each dog will get a grading. Our working members are entering their dogs into this show as we will take advantage of the ring craft training that will be available to us.
